The Fox Corporation has been in the news quite a bit lately, what with all the dreadful stories coming out of the Fox vs. Dominion lawsuit. The bottom line: Fox’s senior executives and on-air talent knew that Donald Trump had lost the 2020 election but lied to their viewers consistently and dramatically out of “respect” for said viewers.
Now, I must admit, I do not ordinarily think of bamboozling viewers and spreading false conspiracy theories as signs of respect, but then I do not have a degree in journalism. The avalanche of bad press does not seem to have noticeably dented their viewership, as Tucker Carlson leads the network in recasting the January 6 insurrection as a tourist stroll around the Capitol.
Here at Life Its Ownself, we’ve been wondering whether our readers feel they are “respected” by the content they read. The truth is, we’ve had neither the time nor inclination to develop a survey instrument by which readers can give feedback on both the news samplings and editorial comment. But now, we want to open up to your feedback – nay, even criticism – in hopes of showing our respect for you, Dear Readers, and thus improving the quality of Life Its Ownself. To that end, we have created this handy-dandy survey for you to complete in a few short minutes.
PART ONE — Multiple choice. Below is a set of topics. Please select, for each topic, the statement that comes closest to your viewpoint on that topic and check the appropriate box.
PART TWO — Fill in the Blank. In the Comments section below, name one blatant lie you’d like to read in Life Its Ownself to confirm your existing biases. Examples:
· Angela Paxton and the Senate Republican Caucus will confront Dan Patrick midway through the session and urge him to “cool it” with all the culture war b.s.
· Under Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the U.S. Senate will reinvigorate its reputation as “the world’s greatest deliberative body.”
· No one will miss Texas and Oklahoma when they depart the Big 12 for the SEC next year.
Thank you for participating in this important reader survey instrument. Please forward this to your friends and invite them to give feedback, too!
This one seems the most far-fetched: " Angela Paxton and the Senate Republican Caucus will confront Dan Patrick midway through the session and urge him to “cool it” with all the culture war b.s."
Will it be in my lifetime that Texas (Texans) come to their senses and hope for the future will return?
