Re the Startle-Gram: As for as I know, the Star-Telegram does not maintain a Capitol bureau. Their presence used to be magnificent: Molly Ivins, Jay Root, John Moritz, Jake Dyer, Dave Montgomery … but no more, although I am happy to be corrected.
Jimmy Cox. Later wrote for James Robertson (Yeah him) and had a deep love of the Texas Boy's Ranch. He also penned some Christian books of his own and did a cartoon called "Dot". Finally he opened a bed and breakfast in Mineola, where he passed away. Dad's family wasn't close with him but Jimmy came more than the other 11 in the family. He even wrote a story in the FWST about Dad chaising him out of the barn to hide the fact that Dad was making him a airplane for Christmas.
I don’t understand why someone ends up deciding they need to act out their rage/fear/desperation by hurting/killing innocent strangers--the horror of which is multiplied so many times over by all the people the grief touches (family friends etc). The coward’s way. Why not just shoot oneself? 😡
Initial response at first read... Deece, you surprise me all the time. I had no idea of your history with People for the American Way! Will have to go back and read Mimi Swartz's piece in TX Monthly.
"the fix was in from the get-go."---ain't that the damn truth for everything in this state.
As always, excellent coverage of things from the state. Why no Fort Worth Star-Telegram?

My dad's brother was editorial page editor for the FWST late 60's early 70's.
Who was that?
