my immediate gut reaction to the thought experiment was i do not think so. i could too easily envision chaos ensuing and the enabling of the ‘trumpets’ to do their worse to sabotage the democratic convention…i came of age in the 60’s, in one of the biggest oil states, i marched, i got chased by tac squads, i worked with the draft resistance. there were too many assassinations of smart and good people in that decade. i watched as denial set in on scientific facts throughout the 70’s. so a part of me is hopeful that there had been a thoughful plan that emerged to thwart the attempts to create a dictatorship of christian nationalists. whether this was a skillful manuever on biden and the democrats part or not, the result is most pleasing at the moment…i mean, the thought of my final years trying to regain the rights that have been hard fought for was just depressing. and it was such a relief to have biden and harris bring a bit of calm and compassion to the fore. and actually do things that mattered to people. it gave all of us time to think, to breathe in some sanity. if it were a strategy, for biden to wait until near the coming election to bow out, it was a brilliant strategy. but i am not that well versed in these things. and good, always, to remind people to check their registration. i just did. i also enjoyed reading of your decade as a monk.
It's obvious you've been paying attention and, where possible, taking action for a long time. I'm glad you're still out there, fighting the good fight, and grateful you're. a subscriber.
"Worst VP pick in modern times"? I must assume that the modern era began after August 2008. The Palin nomination was a godsend for comics and satirists...and an albatross for McCain. I recognize that Palin lacked any sofa-related comedy, but she made up for it in many other ways. The turkey video still entertains.
Sarah Palin was an epic miscalculation by Team McCain. She became a punch line for a generation. But I don't think she's reached the level of disapproval of the junior senator from Ohio.
Great question, easy answer: Yes. He comes from that subset of politicians — arrogant, impervious to argument, and happy to represent ONLY the people that agree with them — who are destroying politics and our polity. He's the most powerful Lieutenant Governor Texas has ever had, and I do not mean that as a good thing. He's tribalized the Republicans and trivialized the Democrats in the Texas Senate, much to the shame of that once-great institution.

Answer to the thought question: No.
We'll see whether that makes any difference in the next 85 days.
Isn't everything about Dan Patrick "unbearable?"

Well done!
