Habit? It is easy to bash a place that has Appalachian levels of poverty. Maine is poor. No one seems to get that because it is the cool playground that many people aspire to. But the economy is rough, climate change and sea level rise is hitting Portland hard and the real estate prices make it an easy target.
It's a mystery to me. We're acquainted, but I do not know him well — or Dallas politics. I cannot imagine him getting re-elected after switching parties — Dallas is pretty blue by now. Maybe he has other horizons in sight. The GOP will welcome him with open arms, but not really encourage his career.
