Here’s the state of play, as of 9:00 this evening:
1. The Senate finally passed its “Rules of Impeachment of Warren Kenneth Paxton Jr., Attorney General of the State of Texas.” The vote was 28-3, with Sens. Eckhardt, Hall and Paxton in opposition.
2. The Rules are embodied in Senate Resolution 35.
3. The Senate also unanimously passed Senate Resolution 36, commanding Ken Paxton to appear before the Senate on Tuesday, September 5, at 9:00 a.m. “to answer the said charges of impeachment.”
The text of the Rules is 29 pages long. I will do a review and try to publish a first-blush analysis tomorrow. I will also try to look at some of the media coverage of these important developments.
