In the Texas constitutional framework, the Lieutenant Governor is more powerful than the Governor. Dan Patrick has taken that to a new extreme – and it hasn't been good for Texas.
It is repugnant to me that 51% of honorable Texas voters could select this Baltimore guy, born Dannie Scott Goeb, who changed his name to Dan Patrick, and who is a malicious piece of work, to continue his vicious path as Lieutenant Governor of the great state of Texas. I will partially hold my breath until November 8th praying it does not happen.
Yep. The irony has always been that the Live Guv is more powerful than the Guv but it less understood by the public. I think it's because the Lite Guy's area — the inside baseball of legislative politics — is not understandable to most people.
Patrick is the most consequential Lite Guv the state has even had, in that he's replaced the basics of leading state government with performative nonsense on red meat social issues. Even worse, Abbott has been lured into competing with him, which is why our schools, child welfare agencies, and social services get little focused attention from lawmakers.
Like the music intro! Good post.
Thank you! I appreciate your continued support!
