Great article. So much to comment on. First, I just read a LinkedIn article on the 1 of 4 health care workers in all roles who will be leaving or contemplating leaving healthcare in 2025. I can only imagine the impact on rural Texas. Next, as our “leaders” push for privatization of education, I can’t help but reflect on the measles vax rates in Texas, terrifying low in private Christian schools at rates of 17-22% in some schools and overall mostly in the 20’s. Kids will be dying or at the least suffering from the ignorance of their parents. This is heartbreaking. It has been heartbreaking to see the indifference of those in charge today. My only hope is a great uprising of common sense and empathy to follow this drought of care for anything but the almighty dollar. Where will rural schools be if some get their way and eliminate property taxes altogether? So very sad.
Yep. It's all of a piece. 1) Make it hard to register and vote, especially if you are an "Other." 2) Gerrymander the districts so that your team is guaranteed to win the general election, thus throwing the power to the most rabidly partisan primary voters. 3) enact the most vicious, racist, and ignorant policies those voters demand, while ignoring the real needs and desires of the majority of Texans.

But, we’re gonna get a resolution naming the Texas Strip Steak
Priorities, priorities …
Texas also works hard to make it so people can't register to vote.
