The House managers and Paxton's defense team showed markedly different approaches to this morning's closing arguments. Now the senators have to make up their minds.
I really appreciate your regular updates on the sordid adventures of Paxton and his evil henchmen (can’t wait for the South Park episode about the trial!) your updates have not only been informative but also have provided a vital injection of sanity in this bizarre moment in Texas history. Thanks for that.
Watching Buzbee reminded me: "If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts; if you have the law on your side, pound the law; if you have neither the facts nor the law, pound the table."
I suspect I am going against the grain but I thought Buzbee gave an impassioned and effective closing argument with two caveats. First, he should have left more time for his co counsel who could have been equally effective with his understanding and reasoned arguments. The outrage coupled with a cool , confident recitation of the facts would have been stronger than the Cowboys' offensive
line. The second caveat is , as I have before , the Senatorial jury doesn't care. Political self serving will always win out over facts, the law and emotion.
I agree with your statement about senatorial self-serving. The question is. the senators are self-serving, but which course dictates that self-service now, conviction or acquittal?
I concur. If Patrick is going to let them vote their conscious, conviction is possible. That has never been Patrick's m. o. That said I think the Texas Republican party and the big donors will get their acquittal.

Ouch.
T. Buzbee’s closing statement sounded like a maga talking points political speech.
Thank you for the excellent summaries! So much better than having to endure the action live.
Slithering crawling snakes!
