Your political analysis, in this instance the Paxton v Cornyn endorsement, is spot on. But I always knew trump would pick Paxton. This is because trump always seeks out bottom-feeders whose indecencies are only exceeded by their rapacities. Such is Paxton. He makes Cruz seem almost revered in comparison. Texas has accumulated the greatest pile of political leadershit in our state’s history.
Cornyn was an ok judge and a decent AG - especially after felon Morales. But he truly punched above his weight with the senate. Although he always looked less awful than Cancun Cruz. Assuming Paxton wins, he may make Cruz look statesmanlike - which would be quite a feat.
In a perfect world with better employment choices (or after a lottery win) I’d like to think I could invest in the many writers and musicians I follow, doling out subscriptions like cheap candy at a homecoming parade. As it stands currently I’ll have to remain a proud member of the 942.
I like your option 2, just to see if Cornyn would actually grow something resembling a spine. With all his years in state and federal govt he’ll be well positioned to subscribe to all the pundits in addition to enabling the well being of his family for generations.
I do subscribe to the Waco Trib, follow the usual liberal suspects on Substack, and occasionally indulge in the digital buck a month club at the DMN, FWST, and HC. For hometown news there’s the SA Standard Times but they’ve declined severely.
I like to get my news from Brian Tyler Cohen, Pod Save America, The Bulwark, Democracy Docket, Glenn Kirschner, Politics Girl, Tennessee Brando and Ari Melber
Deece, I love Life Its Ownself for any of a number of reasons, not the least of which being I get to see our smiling mugs on the latest edition. But more than that, I appreciate your clear-eyed thinking about politics and the world at large. Glad this is what you do with your day!
