I'm liking this because it is witty. But dang so depressing.

But everyone hates Ted. The question then is, do enough voters hate Dems more than Ted.

That is, in Texas, the eternal question, and not just about Cruz. Do Texas voters "like" John Cornyn? Do they "respect" Dan Patrick? The secrets of the GOP's success over the last 30 years are 1) don't let them find out what they're doing, and 2) slur all Democrats as Marxist-Leninist crazy people.

Only the combo of these factors explains Ken Paxton's success.

I don't think either Cruz or Abbott will be able to remain on the sidelines in '28. Abbott may not have the energy or health after all his years in a chair if he waits till 32, and if an R were to win in '28, he'd be waiting even longer. Cruz is just impatient and can't understand why the broad populace does not appreciate his intellect. I suspect he'd eat junior like a midday snack, regardless of the money and magat support. But there's no telling, as you point out, how this all shakes out because come November the Magat movement will have its moment of self-immolation.
