I was really happy to see his smug self will go. I’ve not agreed with a thing I’ve heard him say. I’ve never seen an ounce of compassion for others from him unless he was looking up in rank. I’m hoping fellow dems will be out in numbers to tell corrupt Paxton buh bye next.

The notion that he might have had Supreme Court ambitions is laughable to me, but I suppose that was a part of his predictable pablum on every issue of importance. He's never done a damned thing of consequence for voters during all his tenure, and when the Rs made their noises about getting rid of professional politicians, he went into hiding, because his early days, which were brief, are the only ones where he wasn't getting paid by taxpayers. He took that seriously by ruling against them and voting for corporate interests every chance he got. His politics were deceptively benign but harmful because he let others decide for him and paid no interest to what mattered to his constituents. The idea that he's going to make life tough on Trump as he makes his exit seems impossible to me. Senator Seriously Concerned has lived too long as a political jellyfish to acquire a skeletal structure.

Fabulous image in that last sentence! I think I may "invent" that in a future scribbling!

He had small shoes to fill as an AG after felon morales. I see him as a law prof at A&M for his next gig. someplace conservative with few morals needed.

"the vast majority of his votes were intended to prop up the system where the right got richer and were held less accountable."

There it is. The top vs bottom that Talarico points to, the eternal problem of the USA -- the belief that certain privileged people should call all the shots, keep all the marbles, and oh, if you're not one of them, well you deserve it and it sure sucks to be you.

I'm currently watching the excellent documentary on Teddy Roosevelt on Netflix. John Cornyn is no Teddy Roosevelt.

Good to be reminded that Big John has always worked for the dominant powers, even when he was forced to hitch a ride on Trump’s clown car. I’m drying my crocodile tears now.

My only hope is that a: Talarico wins or b: Paxton gets his just desserts in some manner if he ends up in DC by overplaying his hand and getting himself charged with another crime.

Glad to see Cornyn gone.

I thought it interesting that Susan Collins of Maine, in her campaign, emphasized her seniority enabling delivery of pork projects for her state. Cornyn just emphasized his support of Trump. Perhaps it’s because he’s only delivered corporate pork and nothing for constituents.

I think Cornyn's record of delivering pork to Texas was not that bad. He was certainly more dependable and effective than Ted Cruz. But the MAGA minions don't care about that kind of stuff; they don't need government to deliver stuff to them, but to crack down on those who aren't like them.

Goodbye Cornyn, here’s hoping Paxton doesn’t make the runoff!

Well said my friend. I love the history and context you bring, as a long time insider!😘
