Just a quick note to my subscribers. I have not written much in the last couple weeks My laptop is on the fritz, and I’ve been unable to get it repaired from my redoubt in West Texas. I do hope it will be fixed (or replaced) by the middle of next week. In the meantime, I have sketchy access to the Interwebz at best.
Fortunately nothing interesting has happened in the world these last two weeks. After a momentary scare at the end of June, Joe Biden is fine, and his campaign is going strong. He’s giving strong, if pre-scripted, speeches and press conferences that have eased everyone’s concern about his age and frailty. And because he is fundamentally healthy and living in a bubble, there’s no chance he could get COVID-19 again. Panic among the Democratic Party elites has completely subsided, although a stubborn two-thirds of likely Democratic voters think he should step aside.
On the authoritarian side of the aisle, no one’s taken a potshot at Donald Trump. He’s selected a great American and statesman, 39-year old J.D. Vance, as his running mate, and we expect great things from J.D. once he graduates from junior college. He’s now taking classes on how to eliminate all the horrible things he said about Donald Trump in 2016 from the digital record. At the Republican convention in Milwaukee, Marjorie Taylor Greene said nothing idiotic on Monday and no one noticed Matt Gaetz’s botox injections last night.
I hope to soon be better prepared to communicate regularly with you. In the meantime, I appreciate your patience and support.
Kind fun to read the good news before you have a chance to see the bad news. I predict this bout of COVID will be the final blow to Biden staying in the race.
Onward through the fog.
